Amma Illam means natural love and affection showered to the person uncared by the society. This home established by Dr. Lion. E.N. Palanisamy MJF in 1992 nurture a laudable aim to give hope for mentally retarded children.Amma Illam a Special School for the Intellectually Disabled is a dedicated institution established to nurture, educate and empower children and young adults with intellectual disabilities. Located in Cauvery Ammal Campus, Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu, the school has become a beacon of hope for families seeking care and structured learning for their children.
The word “Amma Illam” symbolizes unconditional love and compassion – qualities that define the very essence of this institution. The school was founded with the belief that every child, regardless of ability, deserves dignity, care and the opportunity to live a meaningful life.

History & Establishment (1992)

Amma Illam was founded in 1992 by Dr. Lion E.N. Palanisamy, MJF, a visionary leader who dedicated his life to serve the under privileged. With a compassionate outlook, he established Amma Illam as a safe home and a structured learning centre for children with intellectual disabilities. Over the years, it has grown into a recognized special school offering education, training and rehabilitation.
